Bowl'd Conversation with Simi Botic

Welcome to the next installment of our interview series, Bowl’d Conversations. We’ll be sharing a FUSIAN Inspired Bowl with a few inspiring friends and they’ll be sharing how food, nutrition and wellness make a positive impact on their lives. Check our latest convo with business owner, lifestyle coach, and all-star momma, Simi Botic!

For this installment of bowl’d conversations we sat down with Simi Botic and her bundle of joy, Osh! Simi is a health coach who specializes in intuitive eating and self care. We met up at our FUSIAN Grandview test kitchen where Simi enjoyed the spicy, gluten-free, “Soul Bowl” featuring white rice, citrus-dressed kale, salmon, tons of fresh veggies, furl-flake, and our house-made creamy togarashi dressing. We chatted about Simi’s need for fast, energy-rich dining options, her commitment to eating intuitively, and the women who inspire her!

Q: What does a daily menu look like for you?

A: I always start my day with coffee with either cashew or almond milk! For breakfast, I love a sweet pink lady apple with peanut or almond butter to dip it in! I usually have a salad or bowl for lunch. For an afternoon snack, I love a smoothie of a coffee with coconut oil. Dinners usually consist of a soup or stew, or takeout from one of my favorite Columbus places! I like to keep things simple and quick, and everything I eat is gluten-free with very little dairy.

Q: How does food play a part in your lifestyle?

A: As a new mom and a business owner, my food needs to be easy and accessible. Anything that requires too much time is just not going to happen! I stick to quick options that I can eat with one hand, since I am usually holding Osh! I need a lot of energy to get through the day too, so any foods that helps me get that little boost are always helpful.

Q: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

A: This applies to business, my personal life, and food; what works for someone else does not have to work for me. I am unique and I have unique needs, and I need to figure out what works for me and not follow other people’s rules. I try not to compare myself with other people.

Q: What is your all-time favorite meal?

A: A plate of buckeyes, or anything with peanut butter and chocolate! I also love chocolate chip pancakes. I found a really great paleo pancake mix at Whole Foods. They are super fluffy and the ingredients are clean too!

Q: What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever eaten?

A: I went to Greece with my husband and our friends, and we hiked through a beautiful gorge. After the hike we ended up at a local family’s house, and they served us eggs from their chickens. These eggs had the most yellow yolks I had ever seen, and they were seasoned with olive oil! We also had fresh peeled oranges from their trees, and a huge salad that they made for us from vegetables they had grown right there in their garden. The meal itself was so simple, but the colors were so vivid and the flavors were insane! They had so much pride in the food, and it felt really special to be able to experience the meal with them.

Q: Could you see a FUSIAN inspired bowl fitting into your lifestyle?

A: Yes, totally! Especially for dinner. It’s so nice to know that if I have had a crazy day with work, or a busy day with Osh, I can call up my husband and have him bring a bowl home!

Busy day? You can always place an order online at and we will have your favorite menu items ready for pick-up!

Q: What inspires you?

A: My clients, the women that I work with, really inspire me. They are so committed to creating positive relationships with their bodies, their food, and themselves. I think it takes a lot to make a commitment to yourself, and then put in the hard work. It is so inspiring to see these women making commitments to themselves and making changes in their lives. I am seeing them experience more joy in their lives. Outside of my clients, all of the women in my life continue to inspire me. My mom and my sister are huge inspirations to me!

(Speaking of inspiring women, during our conversation Simi was wearing an awesome ring that was especially important to her. It had been passed down to her from a very special woman in her life)

Q: What is your food ethos?

A: I eat intuitively. Listen to your body and respond lovingly to what she asks for. Aside from food allergies or intolerances, I don’t believe in food rules.

Q: How do you choose where to eat?

A: Knowing what foods feel good to my body, I am able to pick restaurants that serve those foods!
